Lucille ‘Lu’ Irene Brunette

ESCANABA — Lucille “Lu” Irene Brunette, 91, of Escanaba, passed away on Monday, Feb. 3, 2020, at Bishop Noa Home.

She was born in Escanaba on Sept. 9, 1928, the daughter of Theodule and Delia (Lajeuness) Tourangeau.

On, Jan. 30, 1942, Lucille married Henry Brunette Jr. at Holy Family Church in Flat Rock.

Over the years, Lucille worked at Bishop Noa Home as a nurse’s aide, the Family Inn Restaurant as a kitchen assistant and did clerical work for the Community Action.

She enjoyed cooking, planting flowers, joy-riding and traveling.

She was a member of the VFW, Eagles, American Legion and St. Anne’s Church.

She is survived by children, Cindy Lou Erickson and Joe Brunette; grandchildren, Marla, Michele and Michael Brunette, Tony (Sandy) Brunette, Sheila (Mike) Servant, Sharon (Jim) Klee, Danielle (Dennis) Zeigler, Ashley (Nathan) Anderson and Angela Ketzner; 21 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great- grandchildren; daughters-in-law, Shirley and Sandy Brunette.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Henry Jr., Lucille was preceded in death by sons, LeRoy and Vernon Brunette; granddaughter, Sherry Brunette-Barstow; great-grandchildren, Brooke Barstow and Riley Klee; siblings, Dora Pepin, Arthur Tourangeau, Herman Tourangeau, and Joseph Tourangeau; special companion, Larry Young.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Feb. 7, from 10 to 11 a.m. at St. Anne’s Church. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Fran DeGroot officiating.

Burial will take place in Escanaba Township Cemetery.

The Crawford Funeral Homes are assisting the Brunette family.
