Dave Lee Oberlin

ESCANABA — Dave Lee Oberlin, 88, of 1401 N. 23rd St., Escanaba, passed away Saturday, Jan. 18, 2020, at his home in Escanaba, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on Oct. 17, 1931, in Lansing, Mich., the son of Wesley and Dorothy (Reed) Oberlin. Dave graduated from Eastern High School in Lansing. He then served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War from January of 1951 until he was honorably discharged in September of 1954. Dave married the former Patricia K. Fishell on May 17, 1957, in Angola, Ind. Together, the couple shared 62 years of marriage. Dave was a lifelong hotel and restaurant chef, working in Las Vegas, Chicago and Reno until his retirement in 1994. In 1999, he and Pat relocated to Escanaba.

Dave Lee Oberlin is survived by his wife, Patricia K. Oberlin of Escanaba; sons, Jeff (Anjie) Marks, Mike Oberlin, and Wes (Janice) Oberlin; daughters, Sue (Brad) Johnson, Renee (Pat) Nokes, and Michelle (Darren) Wilbee; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters; two grandsons, James Oberlin and Michael Ward, Jr.; and great-granddaughter, Aubrey Joy Oberlin.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 3 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 22, at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of Dave will follow at 3 p.m. in the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bo Lange officiating. A luncheon will be served at the conclusion of the services. Burial will take place in the Lakeview Cemetery.
