Ruby Anne Peacock Orr

GLENNIE, Mich. — On Nov. 23, 2019, Ruby Anne Peacock Orr, beloved sister, mother and grandmother left this world. Born to Edwin and Alice Peacock (nee Kropp), Ruby adopted her mother’s fondness for handicrafts and gardening and inherited her father’s entrepreneurial spirit. Ruby was a 1959 graduate of Escanaba High School. Together with her husband Donald Orr, who preceded her in death, she explored the country collecting treasures wherever she went. An artist and craftsman at heart, Ruby was seldom to be seen without a project in progress. She took pleasure in teaching her grandchildren to crochet, sew, and paint pet rocks to hide in the garden. Her close bond with her family was a point of pride and gatherings she arranged were filled with music and laughter. Together, Don and Ruby built a home on Hunters Lake in Glennie, Mich., where they would spend most of their remaining days.

She is survived by her four children, Max (Judy), Leisha (Jay), Michele (John),and Scott (Theresa); brothers, Milo Peacock and Edwin Peacock; sister, Diane Godfrey; and grandchildren, Tara, Kaleigh, Katryna, Bethanie, Casey, Anthony, Quincie, Jack, Aaron and Alaina. She touched the lives of countless others including brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, and many friends and family members that she loved dearly.

Family and friends are welcomed to honor Ruby’s memory and celebrate her life at a memorial service to be held at the Quality Inn in Escanaba (2603 N Lincoln Rd) on Friday, Dec. 6, at 4 p.m.
