ESCANABA — Rosalyn E. Plas, age 97, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 8, 2019 at the Christian Park Village in Escanaba.

Rosalyn was born Feb. 2, 1922 in St. Jacques, Mich., the daughter of Omer and Florestine (Sabourin) Groleau. She was raised in St. Jacques and graduated from the St. Jacques School. She met her husband, Leo Plas Sr., during the war while working at a munitions plant in Baraboo, Wis. She and her husband raised their family in Des Plaines, Ill. She later retired and moved to St. Jacques. She was a lifelong, faithful and devoted Catholic and a member of the Rosary Altar Society. She was also devoted to her family and enjoyed family gatherings, entertaining, cooking and baking, playing cards and games and crossword puzzles.

Rosalyn is survived by her children, Leo (Susan Miller) Plas Jr., Lynell Marcus, John Plas, Mary (Gregory) ­Schuring, Paul (Vicky) Plas, Therese (Jeff) Gustin, and Jean Gates; grandchildren, John (Jennifer) Steinman, Meghan (Brendan) McLaughlin, Brandy ­Schuring, Amanda ­(Mackenzie) Malchow, Sarah (Tim) Gredvig and Christina (Dawn) Levy; great-­grandchildren, ­Charlotte, Elizabeth, Avery, Tristynn, Brendan, and ­Kathleen, Mackenzie, Liliana, Declan and Seamus; brother, Wade (Marlene) Groleau, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and dear friend, Tammy Bender.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Leo Plas Sr.; her parents; siblings, Edward, Emil, Leila, Rudolph, Loretta, Irene, Leo, Rosario, Rita, Gary, Gerald and Anita, a granddaughter, Christina Schuring; daughter-in-law, Debbie, and son-in-laws, Jimmy, Ron and Herb.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Aug. 13 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at St. Anne Catholic Church in Escanaba. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30 a.m. with Fr. Fran DeGroot officiating. Rosalyn will be laid to rest in All Saints Catholic Cemetery in Des Plaines, Ill.

The Plas family is being assisted by the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone.
