Kay L. Germain

ESCANABA — Kay L. Germain, 68, of Escanaba, passed away on Saturday morning, Aug. 3, 2019 at OSF St. Francis Hospital surrounded by her loving family following a brief bout with cancer.

She was born on April 26, 1951 in Escanaba, daughter of Donald and Elaine (Ferguson) Ness. Kay graduated from Escanaba High School, Class of 1969 and was a lifelong resident of this area.

On Aug. 12, 1972, Kay married Ronald J. Germain at First United Methodist Church in Escanaba.

Kay was employed by Shopko for 22 years before her retirement.

When her children were younger, she enjoyed being a volunteer at OSF Hospital where she would help at the front desk, gift shop and also had the privilege of taking the pictures of the newborn babies.

Kay loved to sew and read, however, above all else she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her grandchildren were her greatest joys in life and she loved spending time with them and attending their activities.

Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Ron of Escanaba; children, Tina (Bruce) Rose and their son, Zach of Escanaba; Rob Germain and his daughter, Quinn of Escanaba; Brian Germain of Gladstone; and Kim (Tim) Kenneally and their children, Cash, Levi, Danni, Charlie and Timmy of Escanaba; brothers, Barry (Sheila) Ness of Escanaba and David (Shirley) Ness of Green Bay; sisters-in-law, Donna Seymour of Gladstone, Yvonne (Gary) Flynn of Trenary, Janice Germain of Escanaba, and Pauline (John) Gorenchan of Escanaba; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Don Ness and father and mother-in-law, Fred and Bertine Germain.

In keeping with Kay’s wishes, no services will be held.

To remember me:

Give my sight to the man who has never seen a sunrise, a baby’s face, or love in the eyes of a woman.

Give my heart to a person whose own heart has caused nothing but endless days of pain.

Give my blood to the teenager who was pulled from the wreckage of his car, so that he might live to see his grandchildren play.

Give my kidneys to one who depends on a machine to exist from week to week.

Take my bones, every muscle, every fiber and nerve in my body and find a way to make a crippled child walk.

If you must bury something, let it be my faults, my weaknesses, and all prejudice against my fellow man.

Give my sin to the devil.

Give my soul to God.

If, by chance, you wish to remember me, do it with a kind deed or word to someone who needs you.

If you do all I have asked, I will live forever.
