David Dewar, M.D.

BLOOMFIELD HILLS, Mich. — David C. Dewar, M.D. died Aug. 20, 2019. He was 38 years old. David was born Feb. 24, 1981, in Royal Oak, Mich., to Sandy and Bruce Dewar.

David graduated undergraduate and medical school from Michigan State University. It was at medical school where he met his wife, Amy Marcotte. His specialty was neonatology and he literally saved hundreds of newborns.

A talented chef and bourbon connoisseur, David was a local hero in Escanaba where he received the key from the city for his lifeguard duties. He was a kind and generous man who often went out of his way to donate to others. David’s greatest joy came from spending time with Amy, Gabe and Evie. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.

David is survived by his beloved wife, Amy Marcotte, M.D. and children, Evelyn and Gabriel. He is also survived by his parents, Sandy and Bruce; siblings, Nicole Dewar (Eric) Braun and Michael (Kelsie) Dewar; niece, Anya Braun, and nephew, Enrick Braun.

A memorial celebration of David Dewar’s life will be held on Aronson Island in Escanaba, Saturday, Aug. 24, from 4 to 8 p.m.
