Clinton E. Monson

ESCANABA — Clinton E. Monson, 87, of Escanaba, passed away Monday afternoon, July 15, 2019, at his home. He was born on Sept. 2, 1931, in Escanaba, the son of Milton and Ethel (Anderson) Monson. Clinton was raised in Escanaba and was a 1949 graduate of Escanaba High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his country for four years until he was honorably discharged. Clinton began his working career as a machinist in Milwaukee, Wis., for several years and later moved to California for employment. He later relocated of Las Vegas, Nev., where he owned and operated a cleaning company until his retirement in 1995. Following his retirement, Clinton moved back to his childhood hometown of Escanaba. He was a member of the American Legion, the Escanaba Eagles 1088, was an avid golfer at the Highland Golf Course, and enjoyed going to the casino.

Clinton E. Monson is survived by two sisters, Sandy (Carl) Shepley of South Bend, Ind., and Nancy Brown of Thomasville, N.C.; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Clinton was preceded in death by three brothers, Terry Monson, Butch Monson, and Bob Monson; and two sisters, Mary Gere and Marilyn Christianson.

Graveside Military Honors will be conducted at 10 a.m., Tuesday, July 30, at Lakeview Cemetery in Escanaba by the Delta County Veterans Council. Burial will take place in Lakeview Cemetery.
