Carol Louise (Jacobsen) February

MAHTOMEDI, Minn. — Carol Louise (Jacobsen) February, 78, passed away on Friday June 28, 2019, at 10:46 p.m. in Mahtomedi, Minn., after a long struggle with dementia. Carol was born in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to Einar and Mildred Jacobsen on Oct. 1, 1940. She grew up in Fox, Mich., by the bay that she loved. She attended Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Mich., as an undergrad and later graduated from Webster University with an M.F.A. Carol was an artist, writer and a teacher who shared her love of art with all her students. She always wanted to travel and this desire took her to the International Summer School in Oslo, Norway, where she met her husband, Vernon February. They settled in Holland where their daughter was born. Their adventures took them all over Europe and to Sierra Leone.

She was an avid birder and gardener, a gourmet cook, spinner, weaver, knitter and accomplished seamstress. She loved cross-country skiing and the outdoors. She loved all kinds of music and right up until the end delighted people with her beautiful voice.

She is survived by her daughter, Rushika, (Chris) Hage; her granddaughters, Rhianwyn and Elwen; and her sisters, Janet (Gary) Perkins, Joan Rachel and Penelope (David) Hunter.

A memorial service will be held July 6 in Minnesota. In lieu of flowers memorials made be made through the Sierra Club. https://act.sierraclub.org/donate
