Richard L. ‘Rick’ Viau

Richard was born May 18, 1950 in Escanaba, the son of Wallace and Violet (Constantineau) Viau. He was raised in Escanaba and graduated from the Escanaba High School. Richard was a kind and gentle person. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He was a selfless person that would give anything to anybody and was always thinking about others before himself. He would bring gifts almost daily for his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his daughter Christine.

Richard is survived by his mother, Violet Butterbough of Jacksonville, Fla.; his children, Christine (Chris) Szlamczynski of Marinette, Wis., Tom Viau of Hyde and John (Jody) Viau of Quinnesec; grandchildren, Justin, Kelsey, Colin, Bryce, Abbie, Brock, Jacob, Joshua and Jenna; great-grandchildren, Jason and Josie; siblings, Roger Viau of Cornell, Tim Viau of Pensecola, Fla., Carolyn Tomak of Gary, Ind. and Julie Viau of Jacksonville, Fla. and a nephew, Wally Viau.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Memorial services for Richard will be forthcoming and will be announced by the Skradski Family Funeral Home in Escanaba.
