Ricky Lee Laukkanen

He was born on July 4, 1965 in Marquette, Mich. to Sandra and Bill Laukkanen.

Ricky grew up in Chatham, Mich. and graduated from Eben High School. He earned his bachelor’s degree in journalism at Michigan State University, then went on to earn his master’s degree in electronic communications at London College University in London, England. Rick worked in various aspects of the travel industry and enjoyed traveling throughout the world.

Ricky had a love for the outdoors. He took the time to admire and photograph nature when hiking and exploring with his dog and companion Lola. Ricky was a passionate artist. He worked with all mediums and created exceptional art pieces that we all enjoyed. His quick wit and sense of humor will surely be missed.

He is preceded in death by his dearly beloved mother Sandra, maternal grandparents, Roy and Pearl Johnson, and paternal grandparents Albert and Emily Laukkanen. He is survived by his father, Bill Laukkanen of Rock, Mich.; sister, Billie Jean (Greg) Schermerhorn of Sussex, Wis.; niece Alexis and nephew Jacob O’Donnell; as well as aunts, uncles, and numerous cousins.

A celebration of Ricky’s life will be held on Sunday, May 12, 2019 at Lake View Cemetery  in Seattle.
