Mary Louise Baldwin

Mary Louise Baldwin

KIPLING — Mary Louise Baldwin, age 100, passed away early Wednesday morning, Nov. 7, 2018, at The Villa at the Bay in Petoskey, Mich.

She was born Feb. 5, 1918 to Rose and Raymond Rivers of Garden. She married Glen Baldwin in 1938 and they made their home in Kipling. Glen preceded her in death in 1975. Also proceeding her in death was a son, James Richard who died at birth, and her siblings: Florence, Emma, Betty, Clara, George, Joe, and Mary Anna.

Her passion was sewing, and she spent many hours making gifts for family, friends, and the craft shows. She was a very talented lady who also enjoyed knitting, painting, wood working, cake decorating, etc. There was nothing she wouldn’t try.

Louise spent most of her life as a homemaker, and in her later years, worked as a Foster Grandparent in the Rapid River Elementary School. She loved school and helping the children, and they loved her. Louise herself, in her mid 50s, went back to school to earn her high school diploma. At age 91, she went to live with her daughter and son-in-law in the Petoskey area. There she enjoyed the benefits of country living: woods, birds, squirrels, deer and whatever else happened to come in the yard. How fortunate we were to have her spend several years with us before entering a nursing facility. At The Villa, she had a nice room with a view of the bay and a flower garden outside her window. There she enjoyed many activities, church, and all the fun parties for every occasion possible.

Louise is survived by her daughter Jeanie and son-in-law Bruce Croff; three grandchildren, Jason Croff and wife Jennifer, Erin Croff, and Thomas Kramer and wife Masoumeh; six great-grandchildren, Madison and Victor, Gavin and Ashley, and Amanda and Kaveer; and a new great-great-granddaughter, Luna Celeste. What a beautiful family to be blessed with.

When the Lord calls our loved ones home, He leaves us with a gift of memories in exchange. Louise touched our lives in so many ways, and we will all miss her deeply.

Louise’s family will receive friends on Tuesday, Nov.13, 2018, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Mass of Christian Burial will follow visitation, at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, at All Saints Church, with Rev. Fr. Jamie Ziminski officiating. Louise will be laid to rest in the Fernwood Cemetery following mass.

The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting with arrangements. Full obituary details will be forthcoming. Messages of condolence may be offered at www.skradskifuneralhomes.com.
