Mary Beth Helgemo

Mary Beth was born June 26, 1960, in Escanaba, Mich., the daughter of Perry and Bonnie (Ayotte). Mary Beth grew up in Rapid River and was a 1979 graduate of Rapid River High School. Following graduation, Mary Beth went to work at the Bishop Noa Home in Escanaba where she was a CNA for 41 years up until her sudden death. She took great pride and taking care of her patients and loved all of her coworkers The former Mary Beth Ayotte married Dennis Helgemo on April 5, 1986, at the The First Lutheran Church in Gladstone.

Mary Beth enjoyed cooking and baking, watching TV and listening to music. She cherished spending time with her grandchildren and taking trips to Green Bay and Appleton. She also enjoyed going to the casino and cheering on her beloved Packers and Brewers.

In addition to her loving husband, Dennis, Mary Beth is survived by: two sons, Patrick (Amber Morreau) Helgemo of Escanaba, Mich., and Michael Scott Helgemo of Ironwood, Mich.; two daughters, April (Mark) Leadman of Marquette, Mich., and Linnea Rathman-Helgemo of New Port, Va.; brother, Daniel (Jennifer Oliver) Ayotte, Rapid River, Mich.; sister, Linda Marie Ayotte of Rapid River, Mich.; 14 grandchildren, one great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary Beth is preceded in death by her parents.

Family will receive friends Wednesday, Nov. 14, from 2 until 4 p.m. at Rapid River Congregational Church. A memorial service will follow visitation at 4 p.m. at the Rapid River Congregational Church with Pastor William Rafuse officiating.
