George S. ‘Mr. Duck’ Grzyb

FORD RIVER — George S. “Mr. Duck” Grzyb, 79, of Ford River, was found deceased on Friday, Nov. 16, 2018, of natural causes after being missing since Wednesday.

He was born on Feb. 6, 1939, in Bark River, son of Stanley and Helen (Gawlik) Grzyb. George was raised in Bark River and graduated from Bark River Harris High School.

George served in the U.S. Air Force.

On Oct. 20, 1962, George married Lillian Kida in Chicago.

George and Lillian started their life together in Chicago before creating their home in Tinley Park, Ill., where they raised their two children, John and Laura. George was employed for over 30 years at International Harvester until his retirement. In 1992, George and Lillian returned “home” and they have enjoyed living in Ford River.

Among survivors are his wife, Lillian of Ford River; two children, John (Catherine) Grzyb of Trevor, Wis.., and Laura Bresnik of Tinley Park; grandchildren, Kyle and Melody Grzyb of Trevor, Wis., and Nicole Bresnik of Tinley Park, Ill.; siblings, Doris (Paul “Sonny”) Levesque of Ford River, Dorothy (Edward) Ketcham of Plymouth, Ind., and Thomas Grzyb of Jasper, Ala.; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Dolores.

Visitation will be on Saturday, Nov. 24, from 10 a.m. until noon at the Crawford Funeral Chapel 1236 Old Hwy 2 & 41, Bark River. The funeral service will follow at noon with Rev. Darryl Pepin officiating. A meal will immediately follow at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church hall.

Burial will be in Bark River Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family and a fund will be established at a later date.
