Barbara J. Lord

ESCANABA — Barbara J. Lord, 82, of Escanaba, passed away Monday morning, Nov. 5, 2018, at home surrounded by family. She was born on Feb. 16, 1936 in Escanaba, the daughter of Raymond and Margaret (Nyquist) Morin. Barbara grew up in Escanaba and was a 1944 graduate of Escanaba High School. Following graduation, she was employed at First National Bank in Escanaba. The former Barbara Morin married Al Lord on Jan. 16, 1960, at Saint Joseph’s Church in Escanaba and he preceded her in death on July 27, 2013. Together, the couple shared 53 years of marriage and raised two sons, Brian and Kevin. Barbara found great pride in being a homemaker and caring for her family while their boys were growing up. When Brian and Kevin were older, she went back to work and was employed as a receptionist for Dr. McInerney until her retirement. Barbara was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Escanaba, a member of Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, the Just Meez group at Bethany Lutheran Church, and the Wednesday quilting group at Bethany. Years ago, she was also in charge of the Cradle Roll at Bethany Lutheran Church where she would deliver care packages to families with newborns. Barbara enjoyed solving crossword and sudoku puzzles. She loved spending time with her family as they meant the world to her.

Barbara J. Lord is survived by sons, Brian (Tasha) Lord of Livonia, Mich., and Kevin (Shannon) Lord of Palm Harbor, Fla.; granddaughter, Sophia Lord; brother, Tom (Linda) Morin of Escanaba; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Barbara was preceded in death by infant daughter, Allyson Rae; and sister, Sandy Dahlquist.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12, at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of Barbara will follow at 4:30 p.m., Monday at Bethany Lutheran Church in Escanaba with Rev. Erik Heskin officiating. A luncheon will be served at the conclusion of the services in the church fellowship hall. Burial will take place in Lakeview Cemetery.
