Roger L. Poquette

RENTON, Wash. — Roger L. Poquette, 76 years old, passed away on Sept. 20, 2018, from a six-month illness. He was born in Gladstone to Sam Poquette and Florence Smith School on Aug 25, 1942. The family moved to Wells and he went to grade school in Wells and graduated from Escanaba in 1961. After graduation he moved to Illinois area where he ended up joining the army. He served in the Vietnam War and when he was discharged in Fort Lewis, Wash., he decided to stay out there.

He met his wife, Judy Humphreys, in the Renton area and they were married April 3, 1969. She survives. They had a son Mark, two grandsons, Robert and Travis, also there is three step-grandchildren Joseph, Junior and Marcella and two step great-grandchildren William and Kloie. They all survive along with two sisters Shirley Arts, Wells, Pat Pietzak, Soo Hill; three brothers, Bud (Sam) Poquette, Brampton, Jim, Richfield Wis., John Aurora Ill.

Roger worked at Pac Car Foundry until its closing and also a closet factory until he retired. After retirement he made trips to Michigan and Wisconsin every year visiting family and friends.

He belonged to the New Life Church of Renton, Wash,. of which there will be a memorial service for him on Oct. 20. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Bob.
