Cheryl Ann St. Pierre

ESCANABA — Cheryl Ann St. Pierre, 57, of Escanaba, passed away on Monday, Sept. 24, 2018 at U.P. Health System – Marquette.

She was born on July 11, 1961, in Detroit to Wayne A. and Dorothy “Dottie” A. (Ruska) St. Pierre.

As a military family, she was raised on a variety of bases, including Fort Bragg, North Carolina; Fort Sam, San Antonio, Texas; Camp Zama, Japan; and graduated high school from Fort Campbell High School in Fort Campbell, Ky., in 1979.

Cheryl was an elite athlete during her high school years and even to follow. While in high school, she was captain of the basketball team and excelled with her shooting, played baseball, tennis, golf, and was a cheerleader for the Zama Vikings.

Following high school, Cheryl studied communications at San Francisco State University. Her area of study led her to employment with CBS where she was a technician in Presidio of San Francisco. This created many opportunities for her including in 1983, attending a banquet given for President and Mrs. Reagan by Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip. The banquet was held at St. Francis Hotel in San Francisco. Cheryl was able to attend multiple gatherings on the Reagan Ranch, at the White House, picnics in the Rose Garden and flew on Air Force One.

When Cheryl moved to Escanaba, where her father was born and raised, she was a deputy sheriff for a few years before beginning her career as a lost prevention officer at the Mead Paper Company. She retired from the Verso Corporation, Escanaba, in 2016.

Cheryl enjoyed being active, she loved downhill skiing, playing racquetball, was involved with the ladies softball league amongst many of the activities that she enjoyed when she was younger as well. She loved “Fleetwood Mac” and enjoyed singing and playing the drums.

Among survivors are her mother, Dorothy St. Pierre of Escanaba; brothers, Terry St. Pierre of Escanaba and Mark (Lynn) St. Pierre of St. Claire, Mich.; nephews, David and Dylan St. Pierre; her dog, Jasper; and many cousins and friends.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her father, Wayne St. Pierre, and sister-in-law, Mary St. Pierre.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family at the Gardens of Rest Mausoleum.

A celebration of her life will take place next summer and details will be provided at a later date.

Memorials in Cheryl’s name may be directed to the Delta Animal Shelter.
