Gerard Peter Poupore

He was born on the Fourth of July, 1934, at the family farm in Cooks, the son of Rosario and Viola (Dessart) Poupore. Gerard’s childhood was spent on the farm, working and hunting alongside his father and four brothers.

On June 27, 1959, he married the former Gail Ann Haindl in Cooks, Mich. They later purchased his family farm and raised their family there. Gerard chose to spend his life providing for his family and tending to his land and livestock.

He enjoyed hunting season, which was considered a special time of year. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was kind and soft spoken, with a gentle smile and a humble manner.

Gerard is survived by his wife, Gail Poupore of Cooks; daughters, Terri ( William) Reid and Nancy (Joel) Beckman of Cooks; son, Michael ( Lori Dalbec) of Cooks; and grandsons, Cody Poupore of Stafford, Va. and Cory Poupore of Marquette, along with several loving nieces and nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Bernard, Joseph, Vernon and Francis Poupore; sister, Lorraine Vaughan; brother in-laws, Richard Vaughan and Norman Jahn; and his in-laws, John and Viola Haindl.

Private services will be held by the family at a later date.
