Robert ‘Bob’ Allen Reiffers
ESCANABA — Robert “Bob” Allen Reiffers, 62, of Escanaba, passed away on Friday, Jan. 19, 2018, at St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba with family by his side. He was born Jan. 18, 1956, in Escanaba, the son of Stephen Reiffers and Rita Miller. He was the second born of eight children. Bob’s brothers and sisters include: James (Margaret Valiquette) Reiffers, Mary Kay Reiffers, Janet Reiffers, Jay Reiffers (d. 1960), Lisa Gilbert, Gerald Reiffers and Paul Reiffers. He is survived by both his parents, all but one sibling, his aunt Mary Johnson (Miller), and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Bob was loved by us all and he will be greatly missed!
Bob graduated from Escanaba High School in 1974 and while wrestling for four years earned the title of U.P. State Champion in the 167 pound weight class his senior year. Thereafter, he attended Lake Superior State College where he continued to wrestle. Bob also earned a certificate in welding from West Shore Community College in Scottville, Mich.
Bob was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed camping in the outdoors. He cherished a good laugh, family outings, and extensive culinary delights. He was generous to many as he enjoyed helping others and never hesitated to lend a hand to those in need.
Friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 23, at the Allo Coolman Funeral Home in Escanaba. A funeral service celebrating the life of Bob Reiffers will follow visitation at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home with Fr. Eric Olson officiating.
