GLADSTONE — Randy August Bruce, 60, Gladstone, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 28, 2017 at his home with his loving family by his side. He was born on Feb. 18, 1957 in Escanaba to the late Wallace and Shirley (VanElsacker) Bruce Jr.

Following high school, he served his country in the U.S. Navy. When he got out of the Navy he returned home and on Aug. 25, 1979 he married the former Barbara “Barbie” Couillard at St. Anthony’s church in Wells. He attended Bay de Noc College for a couple years and earned certificates in various fields. Randy was always entrepreneurial and loved the outdoors. This led him down the path of owning and operating different businesses in the Escanaba area throughout his career, including being a real estate broker for many years and owning “Just Burgers & More.” Randy loved his family and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He followed many sports including Nascar and watching/listening to the Packers and Tigers. Randy also enjoyed hunting with his sons, coaching baseball and gardening with his wife.

He is survived by his loving wife, two sons: Gary Bruce and Michael Bruce; three brothers: Jeff (Tina), Rick (Karen) and David (Heidi) Bruce; three sisters: Teri Perry, Lynn Bruce and Wendy (Ronald) Sexton; three grandchildren: Dawson Bruce, Makenzye Bruce and Chase Casperson, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents and one brother: Robbie “Rob” Bruce.

Friends may call from 3 to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2017 at the Allo Coolman Funeral Home in Escanaba with Delta County Veterans Council Rites at 5:15 p.m. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Randy Bruce will follow at 5:30 on Wednesday at the funeral home with Fr. Rick Courier officiating. The family will hold a luncheon at the Wells Township Hall following the service. On Thursday Oct. 5, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. he will be laid to rest in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery.
