John Joseph Rademacher

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. — John “Red” Rademacher 85, was born in Escanaba to Paul H. and Marie (Jaeger) Rademacher on Sept. 13, 1931. He died peacefully after a short illness in Port Charlotte, Fla. on Aug. 27, 2017.

“Red” was predeceded by his parents and siblings: Jean Benson, Audie Feltes, Paul D. Rademacher, Mickey Gaffney, Patricia Hoppe, Bernice Buda, Margie Gendreau, Nancy Rademacher, and Ruth Ann Sullivan.

He is survived by brothers, David and Bob; and 51 nieces and nephews.

“Red” was a 1949 graduate of St. Joseph High School and played football at St. Norbert College where he practiced with the Green Bay Packers and became a lifelong fan. He was a decorated Marine in the Korean War. He was a resident of Miami, Fla. for over 50 years where he was associated with American Racing Motors and the Can-Am racing series. He was a honored supporter of the Miami-Dane Fire Rescue Department, a talented artist, ace mechanic, avid sukuko player, friend to animals and all-round good guy.

Services will be held at noon on Sept. 23 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Escanaba.

Burial will follow at Holy Cross.
