Eileen Rosemary Elizabeth Casey Carman
RUSSELL, Ky. — Eileen Rosemary Elizabeth Casey Carman, 95, of Russell, Ky., passed away of natural causes on Thursday, Aug. 31, 2017, at The Hospice Care Center, Pollard Road, Ashland, Ky. She was born Dec. 25, 1921, in Escanaba to Earl Louis and Rose Mary Valley Casey. She married Charles William Carman on Jan. 27, 1951, in Bakersfield, Calif.
After graduating from Escanaba Senior High School, class of 1939, she was employed five years by Michigan Bell Telephone Company and five years with the Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Company in Bakersfield and culminated her career in 1950 while chief operator at Homewood, Lake Tahoe, Calif.
A long-time resident of Russell, Ky., Eileen was a loving and supportive wife and mother who loved to read, cook, and volunteer. She was always a gracious hostess in her home and also loved to garden and was a member over the years of several local garden clubs. She held many positions at the state level in the Garden Club of Kentucky, Inc. Eileen was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Ashland, Ky., where for many years she taught second grade Catechism classes in the CCD program.
Eileen’s parents, Rose and Earl, and brother, Robert E.L. Casey, all of Escanaba, and husband, Charles, preceded her in death.
Surviving are her two daughters, MaryEileen McClung and Cathryn Davis; her two sons, Clarke Carman and Charles ‘Chip’ Carman; grandchildren Austin Davis, Michael McClung, Charlie (Christie) Davis, Steven McClung, Andrew Davis, and Monica Davis; and great-grandchildren, Parker McClung and Holly Davis.
Eileen was buried in Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Ashland, Ky., on Sept. 1 with Caniff Funeral Home of Westwood, Ky., handling the arrangements and the Reverend Father John P. Noe blessing the interment.
