David S. Severin
COOKS — David S. Severin, 57, of Cooks, passed away on May 30, 2017, at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay, Wis., following a brief illness.
He was born Oct. 11, 1959, in Superior, Wis., the son of Orville and Joan (Mertz) Severin and attended schools there. He was a graduate of Superior High School.
On Feb. 25, 1994, he married the former Jacqueline M. Chartier in Cooks. They made their home and raised their family in Cooks.
David was employed as a Merchant Marine. He worked for the Arcelor-Mittal Indiana Harbor Fleet, sailing on the Great Lakes.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing, going to camp, riding four-wheelers, but most importantly spending quality time with his wife and family.
David is survived by his wife, Jackie Severin of Cooks; children, Melissa (Nick) Pappas of Duluth, Minn., Holly (Ethan Rockendorf) Severin of Sturgeon Bay, Wis., and Kevin (Karah Green) Severin of Cooks; grandchildren, Jorden and Dominic; mother, Joan Severin of Superior; sisters, Judy Severin of Superior and Linda (Don) Dembroski of Superior; brothers, Richard Severin of Superior and Jeff (Debbie) Severin of Santa Fe, Texas; his mother-in-law, Pauline Chartier of Cooks; along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Orville Severin.
Visitation will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 3, at the Messier-Broullire Funeral Home in Manistique. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m., at the funeral home, with Father Ben Paris officiating.
