Barbara M. Ives

BARK RIVER — Barbara M. Ives, 74, of Bark River, passed away peacefully Friday, March 3, 2017, at her home surrounded by her family following a nine year struggle with cancer.

She was born on Oct. 8, 1942, in Ashland, Wis., daughter to Tony and Grace Jordan. She was raised in Racine and graduated from Washington Park High School. She earned her associates degree from Bay College.

On Sept. 2, 1961, Barbara married the love of her life, Roger Ives in Racine, Wis. They have resided in Bark River for the past 50 years raising their eight children.

Barbara was the bookkeeper for Ives Truck and Auto Repair.

She was an active member of the Bark River Bible Church. Her church and faith were priorities in her life and she was involved with CEF (Child Evangelism Fellowship).

Barbara enjoyed flowers, gardening, sewing, canning, and most importantly being with her family.

Among survivors are her husband of 55 years, Roger of Bark River; eight children, Steve (Angie) Ives of Gladstone, Vicki Ives of Fairfax, Va., Kathy (Jeff) VanEnkevort of Charlotte, Mich., Janelle (Jeff) Donovan of Gladstone, Gwen (Alex) Choi of Fairfax, Va., Beth Ives of Gladstone, Greg (Jessica) Ives of Charlotte, N.C. and Candace (Phil) Bellefeuille of Bark River; grandchildren, Ben Ives, Heather McKinney, Heidi Ives, Hailee Wilkinson, Jordan Ives, Logan and Ayden VanEnkevort, Kiera and Kallie Donovan, Jamisyn and Gavin Bergeron, Payton, Taylor, Parker, and Shaelyn Ives; great-grandchildren, Harbor Wilkinson, Elliana, Zadie and Zurie Ives and Zaden and Zelek McKinney; sisters, Joyce (Tom) Nelson, Judy Kontny and Karen Aucoin; brothers, Rick and Larry Jordan; and aunt, Helen Schlais.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by son, Thomas Roger Ives.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 7, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Bark River Bible Church. The funeral service will follow at 6 p.m. with Pastor Brad Cochrane officiating. A meal will follow in the church hall. Burial will take place in the Stephenson Township Cemetery this spring. The Crawford Funeral Homes are assisting the Ives family.
