Richard ‘Dick’ Frisk

RAPID RIVER – Richard “Dick” Frisk, 67, passed away Sunday, Jan. 17, 2016, in Rapid River.

Dick was born Dec. 10, 1948, in Marquette, the son of Earl and Marian (Christman) Frisk. He was raised in Marquette before moving to Gladstone, where he attended and graduated from Gladstone High School in 1967. Following high school, Dick enrolled at Bay de Noc Community College. He later transferred to Northern Michigan University where he achieved a bachelor’s degree in secondary education in 1972. On June 10, 1972, Dick was united in marriage to the former Linda Deneau at the Congregational Church in Rapid River, and together, the couple made their home and raised their family in Rapid River. Dick was employed as a heavy equipment operator at the Delta County Road Commission for 40 years. He retired in 2012. Dick loved to work and enjoyed staying busy. He was an active member with the “Upper Michigan Central Model Railroad Club” where he made many good friends over the years. Additionally, he enjoyed collecting vintage cars and carpentry.

Dick is survived by his wife, Linda; son, Kyle (Kathryn Gingras) Frisk of Rapid River; daughter, Holly Ann Frisk of Rapid River; sisters, Suzanne Urmanic of Davison, Mich., Frankie (Dale) Chaffee of Lake Orion, Mich.; grandson, Kohl Richard Frisk; and nephew, Joshua Deneau of Rapid River. Also surviving are nieces, nephews and many friends.

Dick’s parents, Earl and Marian, preceded him in death.

Dick’s family will receive friends on Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2016, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Congregational Church in Rapid River. Funeral services will follow visiting hours on Tuesday at 5 p.m. at the Congregational Church in Rapid River with Pastor William Rafuse officiating. Luncheon will follow in the Congregational Church Fellowship Hall. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting with arrangements. Dick’s family will receive friends on Tuesday, Jan. 26, from 3 to 5 p.m., at the Congregational Church in Rapid River. Funeral services will follow visiting hours on Tuesday at 5 p.m. at the Congregational Church in Rapid River with Pastor William Rafuse officiating. Luncheon will follow in the Congregational Church Fellowship Hall. Dick will be laid to rest in the Rapid River Cemetery this spring.
