Adeline M. ‘Sis’ Berger

WILSON – Adeline M. “Sis” Berger, 94, of Wilson, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2015, at her home.

She was born in Granton, Wis., on Sept. 7, 1921, daughter of the late Albert and Altha (Davis) Mabie.

After graduating from Hylandale Academy in Rockland, Wis., Adeline worked as a domestic in Chicago for a year before marrying Howard Berger in her hometown on Sept. 1, 1940. They were married for 75 years.

She was a homemaker full-time and loved to decorate and paint for Howard’s building projects. Adeline also enjoyed quilting, knitting, gardening, cooking and baking, reading, word searches, and bird watching.

Adeline was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Wilson.

She is survived by her husband, Howard; daughters, Charlotte (late Bud) Moon of Wilson, Aileen (David) King of Columbus, Wis., Maxine (Ray) Henry of Crystal Falls, Mich., and Margie (Bill) Kettler of Phoenix, Ariz.; seven grandchildren, Kurt Moon, Sydney Romanoff, D.J. Patton, Jon Henry, Kristin Baum, Joe Henry, and Josh Henry; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is the last of her family having been preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers.

Visitation will be on Sunday, Oct. 4, at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Wilson from 10 a.m. (Eastern Time) until time of service at noon, which will be officiated by Pastor Tony Ludwig. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A meal will be served in the gym at Wilson Junior Academy after the burial.
