Lois was born May 19, 1920, in Hyde, the daughter of Frank P. and Ina L. (Paulsa) Blake. She was married to John McGovern on Oct. 17, 1945, in San Francisco, Calif. Lois was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church, where she served as a deacon and worked as a secretary for the Bird’s Eye Veneer Plant and the Yeland Law Office in Escanaba.

Lois is survived by: two daughters, Susan (Richard) Parlato of Estero, Fla. and Julie McGovern of Escanaba; Reginald K. Carter of East Lansing, Mich.; one sister, Lenore B. Hall of Gladstone; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Lorentzen of San Diego, Calif.; brother-in-law, William McGovern of Gladstone; numerous nieces and nephews and her granddogs, MacGovern and MacNicols.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her daughter, Sandy McGovern Carter, and her parents.

The family will receive friends on Friday, Aug. 30 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Skradski Family Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services will be on Saturday, Aug. 31 at 10 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Escanaba with Pastor Scott White officiating. A luncheon will follow in the church fellowship hall. Lois will be laid to rest in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery.
