MARQUETTE -- A Marquette man has been arrested following an alleged assault and theft of an e-bike
At approximately 11:20 a.m. on Tuesday, Marquette Police Department officers responded to an assault on the sidewalk in front of the Warming Center on the 400 block of West Washington Street in Marquette.
Investigation into the incident found that 47-year-old David Rodda Jr. committed an unprovoked assault of a 28-year-old subject who was on the sidewalk. Following the assault, Rodda left the scene, but was located and arrested a short time later near South Fourth Street and West Washington Street.
The victim was transported from the scene via ambulance to UPHS-Marquette for treatment of injuries and remains hospitalized.
Rodda was also the suspect in a larceny of an e-bike from the area of East Ohio Street and North Front Street which occurred a short time prior to the assault. The e-bike was recovered from Rodda’s possession. Located in the area of the e-bike larceny was another bicycle, which was found to have been stolen from a separate nearby residence.
Rodda was lodged at the Marquette County Jail and charged with assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, a 10-year felony; fourth degree criminal sexual conduct, a two-year felony; ethnic intimidation, a two-year felony; trespass, a 30-day misdemeanor; and receiving and concealing stolen property $1,000 to $2,000, a five-year felony. He is also charged as a habitual offender.
