Child dies after Pembine house fire
A second person has died following injuries sustained in a house fire in Marinette County’s Town of Pembine. The child was two years old.
The structure fire broke out at W9039 Holmes Junction Road on Tuesday morning. Multiple agencies responded: the Beecher Dunbar Pembine Fire Department, Amberg Fire Department,
the Marinette County Sheriff’s Office, Beecher Dunbar Pembine Rescue, Wausaukee Rescue and Integrity Care EMS.
In a search of the residence during fire suppression efforts that morning, firefighters located 30-year-old Roy J. Newling, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 30-year-old woman and two children, aged two and nine, were transported for medical treatment. But later in the week, the younger child — Aurora R. Newling — succumbed to her injuries and passed away, according to the Marinette County Medical Examiner’s Office.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Newling family during this difficult time,” said Marinette County Sheriff Randy Miller in a press release issued Saturday.
