Case of missing woman near conclusion
LITTLE STRAWBERRY ISLAND – A missing Menominee woman was identified as the person found in Lake Michigan by the Door County Sheriff’s Office on June 4.
The Menominee Police Department announced on June 6 that 42-year-old Lisa Pipp, of Greendale, Wisc., was found deceased near Little Strawberry Island in the bay of Green Bay.
The Brown County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the body to be Pipp.
According to the Menominee Police Department, Pipp was reported missing on January 13, after she walked away from a vehicle on the ice of Green Bay during an argument.
In the following weeks, officials completed extensive search efforts by ground, water and air.
On June 4, at 5:07 p.m., Door County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a body in the water near Little Strawberry Island.
First responders from Gibraltar Fire Department, Gibraltar First Responders, Gibraltar Police Department, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Door County Emergency Services and the Door County Sheriff’s Office recovered the body.
On June 6, and autopsy and scientific procedures confirmed the remains to be Pipp.
“Preliminary autopsy findings show no signs of foul play,” Menominee Police Department said in a press release.
“Final determinations on cause and manner of death are pending toxicology and full autopsy results. With the recovery and identification of Ms. Pipp, this case is nearing its conclusion.”
The Menominee Police Department extended its gratitude to several agencies including the Gibraltar Fire Department, Gibraltar First Responders, Gibraltar Police Department, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Door County Emergency Services, the Door County Sheriff’s Office and the Brown County Medical Examiner’s Office.
“Our thoughts are with Lisa’s family during this difficult time. We extend our deepest condolences,” Menominee Police Department said.
