ESCANABA -- The regional chain, Shoe Sensation, is hosting its 11th annual "Socks for Troops" fundraiser in all of its more than 240 retail locations.
Socks for Troops is an initiative aimed at collecting socks for active-duty military personnel and/or local veterans. In their announcement of this year’s efforts, Shoe Sensation reported collecting over 120,000 pairs of socks last year. Their hope is to see a similar success of the Socks for Troops program this year.
The fundraiser started November 1 and will run until December 31.
Local donations can be made at the Shoe Sensation in the Delta Plaza Mall, located at 301 N Lincoln Rd Spc 37, Escanaba, MI.
Socks dropped off at this location will be donated to the Bay de Noc Lions Club for the actual dissemination of the socks to service members and/or local veterans.
Shoe Sensation will have military approved socks for customers to purchase and donate in-store. Customers will receive 20 percent off socks purchased for a donation. Shoe Sensation locations will also serve as a drop off point for customers to bring in new socks they have collected on their own.
Sock donations must be brand new and donated in its original packaging. Shoe Sensation cannot accept used pairs of socks or socks without its original packaging.
