At the heart of Grand Funk Railroad are founding members Don Brewer, drummer and vocalist who wrote and sang "We're an American Band," and bassist Mel Schacher, whose thunderous grooves helped define the band's signature sound. They're joined by keyboardist and lead vocalist Tim Cashion, known as "Dr. Tim," who has toured with Robert Palmer and Bob Seger, and guitarist Mark Chatfield, a veteran of Bob Seger's Silver Bullet Band.
