ESCANABA -- Area voters headed to the polls Tuesday to decide several local races, including road commissioner positions in three Upper Peninsula counties.

In Delta County's uncontested race, Randolph L. Bjork (Democrat) and Dustin Stempki (Republican) were two incumbents elected to serve on the Delta County Road Commission. Bjork received 7,107 votes (39.36% of the overall vote), and Stempki received 10,868 votes (60.18%).

There were 83 write-ins that were not certified with the Delta County Clerk.

Bjork serves as a member of the board with Dennis Stanek and Mark Asselin, while Stempki serves as vice chairman alongside Chairman Bob Aschbacher.

Menominee County also held an uncontested race for the Board of Menominee County Road Commissioners. Incumbent Leonard D. Kosewski (Republican) received 7,743 votes. There were 210 unresolved write-ins.

Three people serve on the board of road commissioners in Menominee County: Kosewski as chair; Kenneth Bower, vice chair; and James Marsicek, member.

2,942 Schoolcraft County voters (97.9%) chose Stephan LaBar (Republican) to join the local road commission. Donald Knoph was also elected to the commission as a write-in candidate, receiving 63 votes (2.1%). The election was uncontested.

Prior to Tuesday's election, the commission consisted of Thomas Klarich (Democrat), Wayne Johnson (Democrat), Robin LaCroix (Democrat), Keith Rochefort (Democrat) and Randy Lund.

Both Klarich and Lund's terms expire Dec. 31. Johnson's, LaCroix's and Rochefort's terms expire Dec. 31, 2028.
