ESCANABA -- Four people ran for three full-term seats on the Bay de Noc Community College Board of Trustees, while a partial term had two certified write-in candidates. One of the write-in candidates for the partial term was also on the ballot for a full term.
Cory Kuchenberg, Nicholas Chenier and Katherine VanEnkevort -- all of whom have already been serving on the seven-member board -- raked in the most votes for the new six-year terms, according to the unofficial tally on Tuesday night.
Kuchenberg earned 8,869 votes; Chenier 8,829; VanEnkevort 6,372; and the fourth candidate, Wendy Middaugh, currently the board chair, received 4,405.
Data from Election Day also showed that Daniel Young was elected to complete the partial term.
VanEnkevort had hedged her bets by also declaring her intent to be a write-in candidate for the partial term. Young took home the most votes in that race, though, earning 88 compared to VanEnkevort’s 45.
The results remain unverified. The Delta County Board of Canvassers is scheduled to meet on Tuesday.
Terri Mileski, Joy Hopkins and Steven Soderman also sit on the board of trustees for Bay College.
