ESCANABA -- Tri-County Safe Harbor (TCSH) is to honor survivors and victims at vigils of domestic violence at three locations in Delta, Schoolcraft and Menominee counties this month.
As October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM), candlelight vigils honoring those lost alongside those who survived will be held soon in Delta, Schoolcraft and Menominee counties. The public is invited to attend.
“Anyone wanting to share their story, honor a victim or survivor, or offer silent support is welcome to attend,” TCSH stated in a press release.
Nationally each October, people work to “raise awareness about domestic violence, listening to survivors, honoring those lost, and working to enhance support for survivors while striving toward a future free from intimate-partner violence,” the organization explained.
TCSH serves survivors of intimate-partner domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking. Those needing help can reach an advocate 24/7 at 906-789-1166 or 800-682-1649.
The public is encouraged to follow TCSH on Facebook for updates about programs and services, community events, ways to support survivors, and opportunities to join the mission to end domestic violence locally.
