MACKINAC COUNTY -- Three people were arrested and approximately a quarter-pound of methamphetamine was seized following a months-long investigation by the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team (UPSET).

David Archambeau, 36, and Pamela Archambeau, 32, from Naubinway and Allysin Chambers, 37, from Newberry were arraigned Monday in the 92nd District Court.

Each defendant was charged with one felony count of delivery of methamphetamine and one felony count of conspiracy to commit a felony.

According to a news release, UPSET began an investigation several months ago into individuals suspected of distributing methamphetamine, primarily in the Eastern Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

The suspects would allegedly obtain methamphetamine from sources in the Lower Peninsula of Michigan, transport the illegal drugs back to the U.P. and then distribute them.

On Sunday, the investigation indicated the suspects were returning to the U.P. after obtaining methamphetamine from downstate. UPSET coordinated with the Michigan State Police (MSP) St. Ignace Post and the Mackinac County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) to complete a traffic stop of the suspects.

Following a traffic stop, further investigation resulted in the seizure of methamphetamine, U.S. currency suspected of being used as drug money and other evidence suspected of being used for drug distribution.

David, Pamela and Chambers were lodged in the Mackinac County Jail on $500,000 cash/surety respective bonds.

Pamela and Chambers are due in court again on Nov. 6, while David is set to appear in court on Nov. 24.

UPSET thanked the Mackinac County Sheriff's Office and the MSP St. Ignace Post for their assistance during this investigation.
