MENOMINEE COUNTY - A bus driver in Menominee has been arrested following an investigation into alleged incidents of sexual assault.
Bailee Rae Miller, 29, of Menominee, has been charged with one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct with multiple variables, a felony carrying a maximum penalty of life or any term of years in prison.
If convicted, mandatory lifetime electronic monitoring and sex offender registration would be required.
According to court documents, the charge stems from an investigation conducted by the Menominee Police Department regarding incidents of sexual assault alleged to have occurred this month in Menominee.
Miller was allegedly employed as a school bus driver by Choice Transportation, a contractual service provider for Menominee Area Public Schools.
In a news release, Menominee County Prosecuting Attorney Jeffrey T. Rogg said the investigation remains active and ongoing, and additional criminal charges are expected to be filed as more information comes to light.
“l am committed to seeking justice for these victims. Because this is an ongoing investigation, I urge anyone with additional information to contact the Menominee City Police Department or my office,” said Rogg. “Behavior such as this is reprehensible. The selfish exploitation of the children of our community simply will not be tolerated, and I will aggressively pursue and prosecute those who harm these most vulnerable citizens of our community.”
Miller was arraigned before the Magistrate Todd Roach in the Menominee County 95-A District Court on Friday. At Rogg’s request, Roach established bond at $500,000, cash/surety.
Should Miller post bond, she is ordered to have no contact with the alleged victims or anyone under the age of 18. A future court date for Miller has yet to be scheduled.
“I appreciate the excellent work of my law enforcement partners in identifying and arresting this suspect so quickly,” Rogg concluded.
