GLADSTONE -- A railroad spur crossing removal project on U.S. 2/41 and M-35 in Gladstone is underway to improve traffic flow and smooth out the road surface.
The Michigan Department of Transportation is coordinating with Wisconsin Central Ltd. railroad to remove the crossing, pavement markings, track signals, and related warning devices. Once the tracks are removed, crews will repave the area with asphalt.
Work began Tuesday and is expected to wrap up by Thursday, Oct. 1, though cantilevers and traffic signals will be removed at a later date. Drivers should expect lane closures, with traffic reduced to one lane open in each direction through the work zone.
