On Tuesday afternoon, City of Escanaba Electric Department employees Travis Frazier and Jake Cronick perform final steps to get Ludington Street ready for the return of traffic. A ceremony to celebrate the reopening of the main street is taking place today, marked by a first ride by local business owners scheduled to begin at the intersection of Sixth Street at 12:30 p.m. and culminating with a ribbon-cutting at the Escanaba Marketplace, located on the 15th block, at 1 p.m. After the ceremony, the barricades on Ludington Street will be removed, opening up the full length of the city's main drag to traffic for the first time since April.
