ESCANABA -- Potential requests for proposals (RFPs) and a contract for a new special assistant prosecuting attorney are among the items on the Delta County Board of Commissioners' agenda for this evening.
The board's regular meeting will be held at 5:15 p.m. in the boardroom at the Delta County Service Center, 2920 College Ave.
One discussion item involves a potential RFP for the county's auditing services. According to the board's agenda, the finance committee is recommending commissioners consider seeking bids for auditing services for financial years through 2026 and 2028.
The county is also considering issuing an RFP for an investment firm to assist in taking over the defined benefit accounts for former/current employees, according to an agenda item request submitted by Delta County Administrator Emily DeSalvo.
In addition, the Delta County Opioid Taskforce is requesting to extend the deadline for RFP submittals for fiscal year 2027 to Sept. 25, Under the proposed timeline, the taskforce would review submissions Oct. 2, with board approval scheduled for Oct. 6.
Commissioners are also expected to consider Delta County Prosecuting Attorney Lauren Wickman's request to appoint a new special assistant prosecuting attorney.
According to Wickman's request, the prosecutor's office has received minimal application interest in the county's open assistant prosecutor position.
Wickman's office has been in contact with Jason Pernick, who has spent approximately 25 years in the Oakland County Prosecuting Attorney's Office, serving in a variety of roles. If appointed to the Delta County position, Pernick would serve remotely.
