Daggett women sentenced to decades in prison

DAGGETT -- A Daggett woman has been sentenced to a minimum of 20 years in prison after pleading guilty in July to first-degree criminal sexual conduct involving a person under the age of 13.
Rocquel Anne Irving, 39, was sentenced in the Menominee County 41st Circuit Court on Friday to a minimum prison term of 20 years to a maximum prison term of 60 years, with credit for 219 days' incarcerated, according to court documents.
In exchange for her plea, the prosecution agreed to dismiss five felony counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct involving a person under the age of 13; one felony count of second degree criminal sexual conduct involving a person under the age of 13; one felony count of committing/procuring gross indecency between females; one felony count of accosting children for immoral purposes; and one misdemeanor count of selling or furnishing alcohol to a minor.
Irving also agreed to testify against Travis Scott Thiry, 45, at his upcoming jury trial that is set to begin Oct. 12, court documents indicate. According to Thiry’s social media, the pair are engaged.
Thiry faces 11 felony counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct involving a person under the age of 13, as well as drug charges and other felonies. Court records also list Thiry as a fourth-time habitual offender.
The charges stem from an investigation by the Menominee County Sheriff's Office that resulted in detectives and deputies executing a search warrant at a residence in Lake Township on Jan. 28.
According to the Sheriff's Office, the investigation had been underway for approximately one week before the search warrant was executed.
Irving and Thiry were subsequently arrested and lodged in the Menominee County Jail on $750,000 cash bonds. Both were arraigned in the Menominee County 95A District Court on Jan. 29.
Thiry is now serving a prison sentence for a separate case while he awaits his upcoming trial.
