ESCANABA -- Members of the Escanaba City Council are set to review the proposed employment agreement with a potential new city manager this evening, along with other agenda items.
The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. today at City Hall, 410 Ludington St., Room C101.
The city’s hiring committee recently negotiated an employment agreement for the position of city manager with Danielle Tiedman, who currently serves as the village manager of Dimondale in Eaton County, located southwest of Lansing.
The agreement details the city manager's role, salary and benefits. Administration asks the council to consider taking formal action on the agreement contingent upon the results of the pre-employment physical and psychological evaluation.
In other business, council is expected to:
Hold the first reading of Ordinance No. 1328, Residence 'C' Ordinance of 2026. The planning commission reportedly recommends the city deny the proposed amendment or set Oct. 1 for the second reading, public and adoption of the ordinance.
Consider Escanaba's Recreation Director Kim Peterson’s request for approval to retain Bosk Paint and Sandblast of Escanaba to paint the exterior of the Catherine Bonifas Civic Center at a cost of $38,640, though only $35,000 has reportedly been budgeted for the 2026 to 2027 fiscal year. Peterson further requests council's approval to retain Kreig's painting of Escanaba to paint the exterior surface of the Marina Facility for $2,665.
Consider approval of a special event application submitted by United Way of Delta County to host UPtoberfest in Ludington Park on Saturday, Oct. 10.
