Bay College Encourages Michiganders to Explore Tuition-Free College Opportunities
Michigan Reconnect and Michigan Achievement Scholarship can help make college more affordable

ESCANABA & IRON MOUNTAIN -- Bay College encourages community members to spread the word about two State of Michigan programs that can help eligible students pursue higher education with little or no tuition cost. Whether someone has been talking about starting college, returning to school, or finally finishing a degree, these resources deserve a serious look.
Michigan Reconnect provides eligible Michigan residents age 21 and older with a tuition-free pathway to earn an associate degree or eligible skills certificate at their in-district community college. To qualify, applicants must meet Michigan residency requirements, have a high school diploma or equivalent, and not have previously earned an associate or bachelor's degree. Michigan Reconnect is a last-dollar scholarship that covers in-district tuition, mandatory fees, and contact hours after other applicable financial aid is applied.
Recent Michigan high school graduates may also have access to tuition assistance through the Michigan Achievement Scholarship. For students attending a community college, the scholarship's Community College Guarantee can cover in-district tuition, contact hours, and mandatory fees for eligible students. Students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and meet program eligibility requirements. The Community College Guarantee does not have an income or Student Aid Index requirement.
These opportunities can make the cost of college significantly more manageable for students at different stages of life. Bay College encourages students, families, friends, employers, and community members to share the information with anyone who may be considering college or career training.
