ESCANABA — The Upper Peninsula State Fair officially kicked off on Monday. Throughout the week, the grounds shall be open to fairgoers between about 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 p.m. Tuesday’s theme is “Chewsday,” during which food vendors are encouraged to offer specials and samples; Wednesday is Senior Citizen Day; Thursday is Honored Citizen Day; Friday recognizes wellness; Saturday celebrates agriculture; and Sunday is Scout Day and Family Day.
