More award-winning fair livestock

Around the country, youngsters in rural areas learn responsibility, see the results of long-term effort, practice professionalism and experience loss when they raise and show animals for market. Some belong to 4-H, and others are unaffiliated but still build strong work ethic and communication skills at farms and in barns.
Last week, people from far around visited the Upper Peninsula State Fair and got to see dozens of dairy cattle, beef cattle, Highland cattle, sheep, lambs, goats, swine, rabbits, chickens, ducks and more.
For some fairgoers, the event in Escanaba is a weeklong festivity about rides or food. For the individuals behind taking care of animals, the fair comes only after months of diligence and culminates in a competitive display of showmanship.
