Drugs at play in Rapid crash

RAPID RIVER — A two-vehicle collision in Rapid River on Thursday morning resulted in minor injuries and the arrest of the at-fault driver, who appeared to be under the influence.
At approximately 7:50 a.m., troopers from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Gladstone Post were dispatched to a crash at the intersection of U.S. 2 and U.S. 41 in Rapid River.
After heading south on U.S. 41, a vehicle had been at the intersection attempting to turn left and proceed eastbound on U.S. 2 when it hit another vehicle traveling westbound on U.S. 2, stated the Michigan State Police.
The driver of the westbound vehicle reported minor injuries and did not seek medical treatment.
However, driver who was turning and determined to be at fault — a 41-year-old man from Rapid River — sustained non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the crash. After being cleared medically, he was arrested and lodged at Delta County Jail for Operating Under the Influence of Drugs.
