Successful tribute concert

The House Band performed a concert in tribute to Kevin Chown outside the Escanaba Yacht Club to about 200 people on Wednesday. Of the items being sold to raise money for an Escanaba High School scholarship in Chown's name, all 121 shirts were sold, and a few travel mugs remain. With Chown as their leader, the House Band had played 121 Wednesdays in a row at the House of Ludington. The shirts that sold had been black and orange (Escanaba's color) as a limited run; a second batch will be ordered in black and red, the House Band colors, said band manager Lisa Glish. The total raised that evening has not cumulatively been calculated as it took a number of forms: some people sent by Venmo, others donated cash that night, and people also are sending checks to the school. At the Wildman's food truck, which was making french fries out of potatoes donated by Elmer's County Market the night of the tribute concert, they collected about $1,300, all of which will go towards the scholarship.
