Cyclists are seen on Third Avenue North in Escanaba at 3:34 p.m. on Friday. These athletes are participating in Tour da Yoop, a 1,200-mile route around the Upper Peninsula. What began in 2018 as a bicycle safety campaign has become an annual tour and is not a race but an activity. The ten-day event started Friday and goes through Aug. 2, with each day challenging riders to about a 120-mile stage each day. The first stage was Manistique to Escanaba; second was Escanaba to Iron Mountain. Today is stage four, Ironwood to Houghton.
