MDOT lifting restrictions on state projects for 4th of July weekend
MDOT has announced it is lifting restrictions on state roadwork projects in anticipation of expected record 4th of July holiday travel.
The US-2 resurfacing project near Rapid River is included as one of the projects that will have lane restrictions lifted. Restrictions will be lifted on Thursday at 3 p.m., and lifted on Monday at 6 a.m.
106 of the 177 active MDOT projects across the state will be lifting restrictions.
On Monday, MDOT published a list of work zones that will remain active or have lane restrictions throughout the weekend. Work zones in the U.P. from the list are as follows:
I-75, Mackinac County, will have one lane open in each direction with a traffic shift over Cheeseman Road in St. Ignace.
I-75, Mackinac County, will have one northbound lane open under M-123.
M-64, Gogebic County, will have one lane of alternating traffic open at Bingham Creek using temporary signals.
M-77, Schoolcraft County, will have one lane open in alternating directions at Lake Ann Louise with a temporary traffic signal.
M-123, Chippewa County, will have one lane open in alternating directions in Paradise using a temporary traffic signal.
M-123, Luce County, will have one lane open in alternating directions over Auger Creek north of Newberry using a temporary traffic signal.
M-129, Chippewa County, has a posted detour in each direction between M-80 and M-28.
US-2, Iron County, will have one lane of alternating traffic between the Brule River (Wisconsin state line) and Paint Pond Road using temporary traffic signals.
