GLADSTONE — Delta County Nonmotorized Trails (DCNT) has unveiled a proposal to develop a new community bike park on city-owned recreation land in Gladstone.

The proposed project aims to create a safe, accessible outdoor space that promotes physical activity, supports mental well-being and provide an engaging environment for kids, families and riders of all abilities.

The park’s master design features a sustainable, low-maintenance 3-mile flowing singletrack loop around the property’s perimeter, accessible for both biking and hiking. The trail will feature natural flow, berms and optional technical lines. It will also be integrated with a beginner-to-intermediate pump track and a dedicated skills area–complete with balance beams, rock gardens and small drops–to encourage both progression and fun.

Creating a designated space will position Gladstone to be a family-friendly recreation destination. By complementing existing recreation with spring-to-fall biking options, the park is projected to attract locals and regional visitors. Furthermore, the completed park will open the door to future community events, youth programming, and riding clinics.

To fund the project, (DCNT) plans to apply for a $300,000 Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund (MNRTF) grant to support the development of the trail system and skills features. The DCNT Board has approved S&S Inc. to begin cutting trail late June 2026.

The organization is actively seeking local matching funds and community support. Demonstrating strong regional backing is a critical step in the grant application process. (DCNT) invites local businesses, community partners, and residents to support the initiative to help move the project forward and create a lasting outdoor recreation resource for Gladstone.
