ESCANABA — A total of 1724 pasties were made between Thursday and Friday by volunteers from St. Anthony of Padua Church in Wells for their pasty sale fundraiser in Escanaba.
The operation started with a day of prep work June 17, followed by two days of making, baking and selling pasties to local residents and businesses.
Pasties were sold out of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish Hall, which was alive with a busy kitchen and near constant foot traffic as customers came in to buy or pick up orders.
The church has been doing these events for 22 years. The church sells pasties four times a year, with a fifth date in December where they make and sell meat pies. The next pasty sale put on by St. Anthony’s will occur on August 20 and 21.
Information on price and contact info for pre-orders will be posted shortly before the start of the next pasty sale on the St. Thomas the Apostle & St. Anthony of Padua Facebook page. All proceeds from pasty sales will go towards supporting St. Anthony’s.
